Questions
Everything people call and ask
If yours isn't here, call 330-503-6596.
Before you register
Was I ordered to the 72 hour program or the 8 hour class?
Your court paperwork says which one. If you can't tell, call 330-503-6596 and read it to us. We'll tell you in about a minute and book you into the right one.
Do I have to stay overnight at the hotel?
Yes, for the 72 hour program. You check in Thursday at 3:00 PM and stay through Sunday at 3:00 PM. The room is already paid for in your price, so there's no separate hotel bill.
Which hotel should I pick?
If you need an elevator, want a gym or want an indoor pool, pick the Wingate. If you want the lowest price and a quieter building and stairs aren't a problem, pick the Quality Inn. The class is identical at both.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can. The weekend closest to a court deadline fills first and the private rooms go earliest. It costs the same to book two months out as two weeks out.
Can I register over the phone instead of online?
Yes. Call 330-503-6596 during office hours and we'll take the whole thing over the phone, including the deposit.
What if the weekend I need is marked Full?
Call the office and we'll add you to the waiting list. Cancellations happen, especially in the week before a program.
Money
What does the price actually include?
Tuition, three nights at the hotel and every meal from Thursday check-in through Sunday afternoon. There's no book fee, no materials fee and no certificate fee.
Why is there a 3% fee?
It's the card processing cost passed through instead of baked into the price. Pay cash and you don't pay it. Most people put the deposit on a card and bring cash for the balance.
Can I get a discount?
Reduced rates are available for Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security Disability. Register normally, pay the standard $125 deposit, then bring your card or award letter to check-in and we'll adjust the balance there.
What if I forget my Medicaid card?
The standard rate applies for that weekend. We can't apply the discount after the program ends, so put the card with your court paperwork now.
Is there a payment plan?
The $125 deposit now and the balance at check-in is the plan. If the balance is going to be a problem, call before your weekend so we can talk it through instead of sorting it out Thursday afternoon.
Do I get a refund if I cancel?
If you cancel before the window closes, yes, we refund the $125 deposit, or we'll move you to another weekend at no charge. One week at the Wingate, 48 hours at the Quality Inn. Inside the window the deposit is forfeited because the hotel room is already committed.
Can I move my weekend instead of cancelling?
Yes, and it's free. Call 330-503-6596 before the cancellation window closes and we'll move you to another date at no charge. We do it all the time.
Can I pay the whole thing up front?
Yes, online at registration or by phone. The 3% applies to whatever goes on a card.
The weekend
What should I bring?
Photo ID, your court paperwork and your remaining balance. Then clothes for three days, toiletries, any prescriptions in their original bottles, and a swimsuit if you want the pool. The full What To Bring sheet is linked on this page.
Are meals really included?
Yes, all of them, Thursday through Sunday, served on site. Tell us about dietary restrictions when you register and we'll handle it.
Can I request a specific roommate?
Yes, if you both book a double room for the same weekend. Enter their name during registration and we'll pair you as long as their booking matches. If you'd rather have the room to yourself, book the single.
Can I bring my phone and laptop?
Yes. There's free wifi throughout the hotel. Phones stay off or silent during class, which is covered in the student handbook.
Can I leave the hotel in the evening?
Class hours are structured and mandatory. Outside those hours you're a hotel guest. Read the student handbook for the specifics, and don't plan anything that risks a session.
What are the rooms like?
A standard hotel room. A double has two beds and one roommate from the class. A single is a private king. Both are the same rooms any guest at that hotel would get.
Court and certificate
How does my court find out I finished?
Our office notifies your referring court directly after the program, and you leave with the Certificate of Completion in your hand Sunday at 3:00 PM. Bring your paperwork to check-in so we have the right case number and judge.
What happens if I miss part of the weekend?
Ohio requires the full 72 hours. Leave early or miss sessions and we can't issue a certificate, and your court won't get a completion notice. If something serious comes up, call 330-503-6596 immediately rather than just not showing up.
My deadline is close. What do I do?
Use the deadline filter on the dates page to see what still finishes in time, then call the office. If nothing works we can help you document that you tried to schedule, but call now, not the week of.
I lost my certificate. Can I get another?
Call the office with your name and the weekend you attended and we'll sort out a replacement.
Can I take this for an out-of-state court?
Call and ask. We're certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and whether another state accepts it depends on that court.
Access and health
What if I can't do stairs?
Book the Wingate, it has elevators. The Quality Inn is stairs only. If you've already booked the Quality Inn and stairs won't work, call 330-503-6596 and we'll move you or put you on the ground floor.
I use a CPAP or have other medical equipment.
Not a problem, just tell us during registration in the notes field or call ahead so the room is set up for it.
I take prescription medication.
Bring it in the original labeled bottle. Note it during registration so staff know.
I have a dietary restriction.
Enter it during registration and we'll accommodate it. The earlier we know, the easier it is.
